Forever's PAX Aus dungeon preview · when and where to watch

Forever's next dungeon spotlight is coming from PAX Aus. Blizzard's programme pairs a Holly Longdale keynote with Clay Stone's look at the design of one new dungeon. This is a viewing preview, not a recap of a presentation that has already happened.

When and where to watch

According to Blizzard's schedule, the programme runs at:

• October 8: 6:00–7:30 p.m. PDT / 9:00–10:30 p.m. EDT
• October 9: 01:00–02:30 UTC / 02:00–03:30 BST
• October 9: 04:00–05:30 in Finland / 12:00–13:30 AEDT

Watch on the Warcraft Twitch channel or the PAX Twitch channel. The different dates refer to the same broadcast, crossing midnight between North America and Europe.

Which dungeon will be shown?

The announcement does not name it. One new dungeon will receive a closer look, but a guess about its identity should not become a confirmed reveal in a headline.

Our interest is how the dungeon belongs to the surrounding world. Will exploring naturally lead a party there? Is there room to investigate a side path, or does everything point down one route? Those are questions we hope to explore, not promised features of the presentation.

Three things we will be looking for

A reason for the place to exist. A new sequence of rooms does not automatically explain why players would want to return. We would like to hear how the location's story informs the experience.

Choices for a group. Cooperation can mean more than producing the largest damage number. What can players notice, prepare for or work out together?

The balance between new and familiar. For us, Forever's interesting test is whether new content belongs in Azeroth. Judging that takes more than the most spectacular moment in a trailer.

The dungeon segment is part of a broader keynote. We are not promising ninety minutes of uninterrupted dungeon gameplay, nor drawing conclusions about the presentation before it takes place.
