A strange signal has appeared on the StarCraft site before BlizzCon, but a new game remains unconfirmed

The official StarCraft website is displaying image and signal interference that appears intentional, just one week before the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony. Expectations rose quickly because a South Korean report about Blizzard and Nexon discussing a new StarCraft project appeared at roughly the same time.

The clues are interesting, but they do not confirm StarCraft 3, a new shooter, or even a BlizzCon reveal. The only certain observation is that Blizzard changed the presentation of the StarCraft website immediately before the event.

Something unusual is happening on the official website

The normal StarCraft: Remastered marketing page now flickers and breaks up with effects resembling a corrupted transmission. It does not look like an ordinary broken page because the interference is presented as a deliberate visual feature.

Blizzard provides no text explaining the signal and names no upcoming product. The page gives no date, genre, or platform either. The effect is therefore an official observation, while its meaning remains an editorial interpretation.

The Nexon report is a separate clue

The Chosun Daily reported on September 2 that Nexon and Blizzard were close to an agreement concerning development of a new StarCraft-based game. Neither company has confirmed that report in an announcement.

The possible Nexon project should also be kept separate from an earlier claim that Blizzard had been incubating its own StarCraft shooter. We do not currently know whether the reports are connected, describe separate projects, or concern plans that have since changed.

Why are people looking toward BlizzCon?

BlizzCon takes place in Anaheim on September 12 and 13. Its Opening Ceremony is a traditional venue for major announcements, and the first day's Main Stage schedule contains unnamed space before the Diablo segment.

A schedule gap proves nothing by itself. Blizzard may update the programme after the ceremony, a surprise could involve any of its properties, or the space may simply be a production break. StarCraft is nevertheless a plausible candidate because the website interference appeared immediately before the convention.

StarCraft 3 is not the only possible explanation

If the signal does lead to a game announcement, several outcomes remain possible:

• a new real-time strategy game
• a shooter or action game set in the StarCraft universe
• a major update for Remastered or StarCraft II
• a licensed collaboration developed outside Blizzard

That is why StarCraft 3 should not yet be treated as a confirmed product name. The reported Nexon talks also do not establish that any potential BlizzCon announcement would be the same project.

What should viewers watch for at BlizzCon?

The first reliable checkpoint is the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, September 12 at 17:30 UTC. If Blizzard announces a new StarCraft game, the essential details will be its developer, genre, target platforms, and whether it is Blizzard's own project or a licensed collaboration.

Until then, this is a strong teaser rather than a confirmed game announcement. The signal on the StarCraft site is real. The game behind it remains a mystery.
