SSC and Tempest Keep attunements are going away — Vashj and Kael'thas can be skipped to directly
TBC Anniversary Phase 3 removes SSC and Tempest Keep attunements, enables direct Vashj and Kael'thas skips, and increases tier-token drops.
Returning to Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary's older raids becomes easier as soon as Phase 3 opens. Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep lose their attunement requirements, while raids gain direct routes to Lady Vashj and Kael'thas Sunstrider without clearing every preceding boss.
Blizzard confirmed the change in a last-minute clarification before Black Temple and the Battle for Mount Hyjal open on August 27 at 23:59 CEST in Europe. Both the removal of attunements and the skips activate then. SSC and TK remain useful for progression: the faster targeted runs help alts and new roster members collect tier tokens, weapons, and individual items that can remain useful for a long time.
The skips shorten farming, not the final fights
Vashj and Kael'thas retain their encounter mechanics. Raid leaders should decide whether each farm run needs only the final bosses or whether earlier loot remains valuable to the roster. The skip removes the compulsory route, not the reason to visit other bosses.
Extra tier tokens and launch fixes
Phase 3 bosses in Black Temple and Mount Hyjal will drop additional tier tokens from launch. This increase was absent from the PTR but will be live when the raids open. Blizzard also clarified that no surprise heroic-dungeon loot overhaul is planned; the previously referenced Phase 3 changes mean familiar additions such as Epic Gems.
PTR testing also exposed issues with Mount Hyjal's first Horde-base wave despawning, the wave counter disappearing, and some boss abilities targeting tanks incorrectly. Blizzard says those problems were fixed before release. Arena Season 3 begins with Europe's September 2 weekly reset.
Phase 3 therefore creates two raid tracks: new progression in Black Temple and Mount Hyjal, and much leaner targeted farming in SSC and Tempest Keep.
