Blizzard speeds up Curse Surges and fixes Midnight quest progress

Curse Surges now rotate every 30 minutes. Blizzard’s September 15 hotfix list also addresses delve quest progress and issues affecting three specializations.

Blizzard’s September 15 hotfix list includes smaller fixes alongside the raid changes. The clearest scheduling adjustment affects Curse Surges on the Coiled Isle: they now rotate every 30 minutes instead of every 45 minutes.

The article was published on September 16 in UTC, while the changes are listed under September 15. These are hotfix notes, not the 12.1.5 PTR changes. Blizzard cautions that some hotfixes can require realm restarts.

Curse Surges rotate more often

The interval is 15 minutes shorter. If you planned your Coiled Isle visits around the previous rotation, account for the new timing when waiting for the next event.

The note changes the rotation interval. It does not announce additional rewards, larger currency payouts or weaker enemies. A shorter wait should not be mistaken for a promise of better loot.

Two quest blockers addressed

Hope in the Darkest Corners: delves should once again contribute toward the quest objective. This directly addresses progress that was failing to count.

Still Behind Enemy Portals: the Hijacked Portal could send players to the wrong destination. Blizzard says that portal issue has been fixed.

The announcement does not promise retroactive credit for either quest. Our practical suggestion is to check the quest log before and after the next attempt so you can see whether that run advances the objective.

Hunter, Paladin and Priest fixes

  • Marksmanship Hunter: Aimed Shot’s cast animation is fixed when using a gun or crossbow. This is an animation correction, not an announced damage increase.
  • Protection Paladin: the first tick of Consecration was not benefiting from the Venomous Abyss tier set’s increased critical strike chance. That interaction is corrected.
  • Holy Priest: Renewed Vigor from the Venomous Abyss two-piece bonus could exceed three stacks. The fix removes that unintended stacking.

These are not three blanket class buffs: the list covers a visual issue, a missing set interaction and a bonus that could stack too far.

Raid tuning and Sparks have separate coverage

The same list also includes the Venomous Abyss difficulty adjustments and Spark of Tides restoration. Our Spark restoration story covers the completed restoration process and removal of excess grants.

Those stories remain separate so readers looking for quest fixes do not have to work through the raid list again. Find more guides and coverage in our Midnight hub.
