Forever’s open test is October 21: here is how to join
Join the WoW Forever stress test on October 21 without a subscription or beta invite. Check regional times, installation and the character wipe.
Wednesday brings a chance to invite that friend who missed the beta and has not paid for WoW time in years. The European Forever stress test starts on October 21, 2026 at 19:00 CEST — 18:00 in the UK and 20:00 in Finland. The aim is to fill the servers and put ordinary play under a very unusual amount of pressure.
Check the date before making plans. Blizzard moved the event from October 19 to October 21, as confirmed in its updated announcement. An older search result or a screenshot shared earlier may still point to Monday.
Pick the start time for your region
Europe opens at 19:00 CEST on October 21. The Americas and Oceania start at 14:00 PDT that day, four hours after Europe. That second opening falls at midnight on October 22 in Finland. Choosing a region matters even when everyone calls the event the same stress test.
Updated October 21, 2026: Blizzard now schedules Europe’s stress test to end at 03:00 CEST on October 22 (04:00 in Finland). The regular beta reopens afterwards and is planned to close on October 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT / 19:00 CEST (20:00 in Finland). No separate minute-specific beta reopening time is given. See Blizzard’s new announcement and our beta-extension report. Open stress-test access does not give everyone regular beta access through Friday.

Find the dedicated client
You need a WoW account and the Battle.net desktop app. An active subscription, Game Time, a beta invitation or a purchased pack is not required. Blizzard’s installation instructions identify a dedicated version:
- Open Battle.net and select World of Warcraft.
- Open the Game Version menu above Play.
- Under In Development, select World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test and install it.
- Once the test opens, launch the game, choose an available test realm and create a new character.
Update the app and your graphics drivers in advance. A short group session can disappear into download time if everyone starts installing at the agreed meeting time. Also agree on your game region and a way to keep in touch. Meeting in Azeroth becomes easier when the group first agrees on which client it is opening.
Ordinary activities make a useful test
Blizzard asks participants to quest, trade, chat and form groups. Together, those actions exercise several systems at once. The test uses the regional hardware intended to run Forever at launch.
Our suggestion is to give the evening a modest shared objective: create characters, meet somewhere and try a few everyday interactions. A group gets more out of that than simply waiting for something spectacular to happen. A newcomer’s observations are useful too. If a menu or a quest step is confusing, recording the exact point of confusion gives the experience more value than reducing it to “nothing worked”.
When you encounter a problem, useful notes include the time, region, character location and steps that led to it. Crop private conversations out of screenshots before sharing them. The purpose of keeping a record is to explain an observable problem clearly, without guessing which server system caused it.
A test character does not reserve your name
Characters, names and guilds created for the stress test will be removed at its end. There is little reason to spend the evening guarding a desirable name. This event neither carries a character into launch nor replaces the separate name-reservation period. The normal beta goes offline for the test and is expected to return afterwards.
That temporary nature also makes it a comfortable place to experiment. If you are choosing between two classes, use a little time to see whether movement, early combat and the interface feel natural to you. A handful of starting quests will not settle which endgame specialization is strongest. It can still reveal which character you want to keep playing.
