How to read these guides

Each guide covers five skill brackets: 1-75, 75-150, 150-225, 225-300 and 300-375. Crafting guides outline materials and recipe choices; gathering guides cover suitable areas and skill requirements. These are progression overviews, not complete shopping lists. Check recipe requirements and your realm's prices before buying materials.

1-75 Apprentice
Start by making blasting powders, bolts and copper-based items.
  • Keep the components you make: later recipes often use them.
  • Mining helps with both stones and ores.
75-150 Journeyman
Bronze, heavy blasting powder and the first utility crafts take you to the next bracket.
  • Before selling parts to a vendor, check whether you need them in the next skill bracket.
  • Gadgets can be fun but are not always the cheapest skill points.
150-225 Expert
Iron, steel and mithril form the middle stage.
  • Specialization becomes relevant later, but leveling should not depend on it.
  • Keep an eye on the price of mithril parts.
225-300 Artisan
Thorium, dense stone and late Classic parts take you to 300.
  • The Thorium stage can be expensive, but many parts can be used or sold.
  • If you plan on TBC goggles, do not waste rare components on unnecessary filler crafts.
300-375 Master / Outland
Begin the Outland stage with Fel Iron and Adamantite. Later recipes require more expensive components made with motes and Primals.
  • Prioritize the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor if you want to farm motes.
  • 350+ includes goggle, scope and gadget choices, so compare the benefit for your class.

Practical tips

  • Keep intermediate parts in the bank because Engineering reuses its own components.
  • If you mainly want PvP gadgets, decide which ones you need before investing in the expensive 350+ stage.
  • Mining is the easiest way to avoid constant AH buying.
