Forever PvP explained · the road to Grand Marshal and High Warlord
Blizzard explains Forever's PvP progression: Honor buys equipment, Rank Points unlock ranks, and seasonal objectives connect to Legacy.
Buying equipment and climbing the PvP ranks are separate parts of Forever's progression. Blizzard's October 7 overview explains what battleground players will be working toward beyond the next victory.
Honor for purchases, Rank Points for progression
Honor is currency; Rank Points advance players toward Grand Marshal or High Warlord, with a weekly rank cap. Blizzard is also evening out battleground Honor income to reduce the incentive to choose Alterac Valley purely for efficiency.
It helps to ask two separate questions: what can I afford now, and what does my next rank unlock? A play session can contribute to both goals, but treating them as a single progress bar would make planning less clear.
Upgrading blue gear to epic
An epic upgrade needs the blue item and a rank-gated Emboldened Seal. Mounts unlock at rank 11, epic weapons at 14. Shaman have role-specific PvP sets.
Our practical advice is to plan around how you actually want to play. If you alternate between healing and damage, an item's colour should not decide the purchase for you. Think about the role and group you expect to play next. That is preparation advice, not a claim that a particular set is best.
Seasonal objectives connect to Legacy
Three tasks per season award a Legacy Point, and those objectives remain available in later seasons.
Our existing Legacy guide provides the wider context. When deciding whether to spend an evening in PvP, it is worth considering the character's longer journey as well as the next equipment purchase.
What we would not infer yet
We would not turn this overview into an hours-to-rank-14 calculator or promise a particular progression speed. That needs exact thresholds, rewards and assumptions about match results. A presentation alone cannot establish how smooth the finished system will feel either.
We would start by choosing a class and preferred role, then setting one achievable equipment goal. Browse our Forever classes and talents before committing to that first extended PvP session.
