How to read these guides
Each guide splits the profession into TBC skill brackets: 1-75, 75-150, 150-225, 225-300 and 300-375. Crafting professions focus on material groups and recipe choices, while gathering professions focus on zone routes and skill requirements. Always compare exact craft counts with the prices on your own realm.
1-75 Apprentice
Level the opening bracket with the cheapest trainer recipes and low-level herbs.
- Keep Peacebloom/Silverleaf/Earthroot-type herbs separate so you do not have to buy them back later at inflated prices.
- The first stage is usually cheap, but yellow recipes can still need a buffer.
75-150 Journeyman
Move into Briarthorn, Bruiseweed and Stranglekelp potions and elixirs.
- Choose the craft according to which herb is cheapest on your realm.
- Do not buy every recipe just because it is available; you only need a route that carries you until it turns green.
150-225 Expert
The middle bracket usually uses Kingsblood, Liferoot, Goldthorn and Khadgar's Whisker materials.
- Goldthorn is often a bottleneck, so check alternative crafts before a large buy.
- Keep some useful potions for yourself if you raid or level at the same time.
225-300 Artisan
The late Classic stretch leans on Sungrass, Blindweed, Gromsblood, Dreamfoil and Mountain Silversage.
- This is the first properly expensive bracket if you buy everything from the AH.
- If you plan to stock flasks or protection potions, craft useful items instead of vendor trash.
300-375 Master / Outland
Learn Master Alchemy in Outland and move from Felweed into late Terocone, Nightmare Vine and Netherbloom crafts.
- You choose a specialization later, but it is worth deciding on potion, elixir or transmute direction before hoarding expensive materials.
- Discovery recipes and raid demand make some crafts sensible for resale too.
