Midnight 12.1.5 arrives in Europe on October 14 · how to prepare

Midnight’s next update has a confirmed date: 12.1.5 launches in Europe on October 14, 2026. The October 13 date in US announcements belongs to that region’s schedule. Blizzard’s European announcement specifies Wednesday, October 14.

The patch brings the single-boss Kith’ix raid, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan and Aqir Invasions. For players planning their equipment upgrades, another detail deserves attention: some preparation begins before launch, and the new power progression does not all unlock on patch day.

Start with these two quests

Blizzard recommends completing the following before weekly maintenance during the week of October 6. The week labels in the notes are not exact maintenance times for every region.

1. Accept In the Catalyst’s Shadow from Decimus in Voidstorm.
2. Visit Orin Straylight in Silvermoon and complete Prismatic Potential.

Turning in the second quest starts Orin’s research. Once that research completes during the week of October 6, Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst unlocks the option to obtain one additional Nebulous Voidcore per week. It can be purchased with gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests.

This is a reason to get the quest chain started, not a promise of unlimited bonus rolls. Nor does completing these opening quests immediately unlock every later equipment improvement.

Three stages, rather than one patch-day power jump

Week of October 6: the first research stage leads to the extra weekly Voidcore once its requirements and follow-up quest are completed.

Week of October 13, with the EU patch on October 14: Orin offers Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom, starting his next research into Ascendant Venomstones.

Week of October 20: that research finishes during maintenance. Ascending with Venomstones unlocks stone acquisition, and the crest cap is lifted that week.

Collecting ten Ascendant Venomstones allows an item-level increase for a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth or maximum-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket or necklace near Silvermoon’s Catalyst. The equipment restrictions matter: this is not a universal upgrade for any item in your bags.

After the unlock, stones come from Heroic and Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ dungeons at +10 or above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests. Check the in-game quests and current update notes if Blizzard revises the schedule.

Kith’ix brings an unusually flexible Mythic raid

The Unbinding of Kith’ix is a single-boss raid continuing the Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman story. The October 1 notes list Story, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties. Its Mythic version supports a flexible group of 15–25 players.

That is useful information when organising a roster. It does not tell us which group size will be easiest or which composition will perform best. An announcement is not enough evidence for a finished encounter strategy.

The Labyrinth need not be completed in one sitting

The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan expands the Delve-style adventure with Valeera Sanguinar. It has dedicated progression, unlockable advantages and a reward path that includes Mythic gear. Players can tackle a long run or take it one wing at a time; a single wing can still provide rewards.

For a shorter evening session, that flexibility may matter more than the headline scale of the adventure. We would wait for sufficiently detailed practical information before recommending a specific difficulty-to-reward route.

In the open world, Aqir Invasions take place in Eversong or Zul’Aman. A ten-minute window each hour provides zone objectives before a boss encounter, with both combat and non-combat scenarios.

What we would do before patch week

Check Orin’s quest chain first, then agree with your group whether the priority is the raid, the Labyrinth or more keystones. The new Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 achievement sets a 3,600 rating target and rewards a title and Timelost Saddle. That is a longer-term objective, not an entry requirement for the new content.

Our earlier PTR coverage introduced the features. The news now is a confirmed regional launch date and a staged preparation path. Complete the opening quests, leave room for October 14 if you play in Europe, and do not plan your Venomstone upgrades around launch day.
