Forever’s small beta differences · banks, spell ranks and moving combat
More bank space, an old spell rank left on a bar and a different Auto Shot rhythm. We separate beta observations from useful Classic reminders.
New zones and talents attract attention in the Forever beta. Smaller details can also change an evening: how much fits in your bank, which spell rank is on your bar and how long firing a shot keeps you still.
This roundup draws on beta reports published September 21–22. It is not a list of fixes deployed September 23, and we have not independently reproduced the observations.
More bank space still benefits from organisation
Wowhead’s bank report describes 48 default slots instead of 24, plus eight bag slots instead of six.
That gives players more room for materials and alternative equipment. It does not establish unlimited collecting, an account-wide bank or a schedule for further expansions.
Our practical suggestion is to separate three groups early: supplies for your next trip, materials for later and items whose purpose is still unclear. Revisit that last group occasionally. Even a larger bank fills up if every object is waiting for the perfect moment.
The spell you learned may not be the one you are using
Wowhead’s reminder is that learning a higher rank of a mana-using ability may not replace the old rank on your action bar. This is a reminder of Classic-style behaviour, not a newly introduced Forever feature.
Check your main buttons after visiting a trainer. If the book and bar show different ranks, decide which one you want. Deliberately using a lower rank is different from leaving it there accidentally.
The report says older ranks can be revealed through the spellbook’s show-all-ranks setting. Do not assume they are absent simply because the default view hides them.
Quicker Auto Shot and wand attacks are a bug
Wowhead’s comparison uses player videos. They show Hunter Auto Shot and wand attacks apparently needing a shorter stationary wind-up than in the Classic comparison.
Updated September 24, 2026: Kaivax confirmed on September 23 that the shortened 0.5-second wind-up is a bug. A fix is planned for a later beta build, hopefully the following week. It was not confirmed as already deployed or part of the September 24 update. Our original report left the intent unresolved; this clarification replaces that uncertainty.
If you test it, record the client version and ability. Otherwise a current observation can easily become mixed up with memories of another version. A finding is more useful when somebody else can reproduce your description.
Rockslicer offers a limited taste of Mining
According to Wowhead’s report, Deadmines weapon Rockslicer lets its wielder mine copper, tin, silver and iron without the Mining profession. It has 30 charges. Once they are spent, the weapon remains but the mining function does not.
It is an interesting example of equipment whose value extends beyond damage. It does not make Mining redundant or establish a profitable farming route.
A three-minute check before leaving town
Our checklist would be simple: clear unnecessary inventory, check the spell bar and read each new item’s full description. Remember that the next beta update may change how something works.
